I was mostly nodding and grinning and thinking “They're people from on the TV – in the same room as me!” Yes, it's a little pathetic, made me feel silly but it's actually a kind of amazing the experience. You see them on the screen and even when you know you'll be there as well as them, it hitting you is rather different.
I know *exactly* what you mean. Happened to me the first time I met Alexander Siddig (Bashir of DS9) and a few other Trek actors at a private fan club gathering years ago. It was super cool!
