I got round to checking out my fandom_stocking today.

I wrote a few ficlets (TW Tosh/Owen, SCC John, SGA Sheppard/Vala, SCC/Angel crossover), commented with recs for a number of people and made a SCC Sarah/Cameron header. It was fun. I'd wanted to get more stuff done and might have done if not for the nasty New Years cold. I've still got an Ironman EP fanmix that I didn't get round to posting, and an IOU I left for one participant. Anyhow, I'll be posting what I wrote properly here shortly. :)

Let me pimp out mwexplosion, which has been created for the McKay/Weir novel(la) writing event soon to kick off, but is also going to have smaller contests in the meantime - starting with our first icontest, for episode 1x01-02 "Rising". Go here for Challenge 1 rules and submissions post.

Two items on the agenda

1. Please awesome flisters who're into Stargate, go create for the sg_rarepairings Prompt Battle. I'm sure you might even be able to recognise a few of my prompts over there, I'm a little predictable, but seriously there's tons of prompts, plenty of variety to choose from and not restricted to only fic either.

2. You can surely manage just 6 prompts (up to 5 character/pairing specific and 1 non-character-specific) for the following challenge? We need more fanart, it would be love, so do your bit and give them some good stuff to inspire! :D



paintedspires is an SGA fanart challenge in which a group of SGA artists respond to prompts submitted by the rest of fandom. There are over 70 artists signed up, and from March 10-16, they're asking for prompts from you! Any character, any pairing, any genre. Click the link! Help them out! Get pretty art in the bargain!

So, my long standing Save Elizabeth Weir auction items need to get done. I know they do, however one of video items troubles me.

The requestee wanted preferably a Carson/Elizabeth video but I don't have any ideas for the song, just keep drawing a blank. I really would like to do the pairing they want, though failing finding anything for that pairing they'd be happy with a general Elizabeth one or John/Elizabeth or Lorne/Elizabeth. Anyone got any suggestions?

In a couple of weeks, once I'm more organised and have gotten my secret santa stuff done, I was thinking of doing a couple "7 days of" events on my journal. That'd be me making sure to post something on the fannish topic for every day for a week. I've got a few ideas for what I'd like to do it on but not sure which to start with, so thought I'd see how popular each of them is. Bear in mind I'll probably take prompts for them.

New Stargate Atlantis thinklings. ( There be spoilers here for the first two of S4 )

Just want to point out there's a Teyla prompt battle on teylafen that I thought some people reading this might be interested in participating in.

What is it? I promise it's all good. :)

From now until midnight Saturday 28th April, UK time, they'll be collecting prompts for the battle in the comments to the above linked post. Then the day after, Sunday, a list of prompts will be posted up and it's a free for all to create art/fic/vid etc about any or all of the prompts with the aim of creating lots of lovely Teyla fannish goods.

Taken from belisse. Following a read of this meta on lack of feedback I'm thinking I could do with pimping my gen/character stuff that I'm proud of (but get barely any comments on) about the place. I'm well enough known in the happy little SGA fandom niche of McKay/Weir but for any other fandoms or gen SGA stories, even straight main character angst/friendship things, seem to just sit about not getting much love. Hence I'm going to fill in this completely conceited meme in order to hopefully inspire people to read those fics that I adore myself.

That said, my 4400 in general I love to bits, loved writing and it's not a much loved fandom. I consistently had my betareaders being the only people who'd leave comments 90% of the time.

Also whilst doing this meme I found out that I have more than 100 fic posts, making the my fanfic tag a bit worthless since it wouldn't go back further than that. Hence now I'm leaving it for general talk of my fanfic and fics will be posted under for example the tag - my 4400 fic, my heroes fic or my sga fic etc. Should make it easier to find things within a fandom on my journal, though I really need to make myself a website to list everything on.

Time to tag people for the meme. I choose planetkiller, mari4212, wisdomeagle, tielan and lastly fanwoman, in the hope she'll start both using her LJ and getting her fic more out there.

I noticed today that the Isis Awards (for SG het shipping) are on finally! *was worried they'd fallen into the big black hole of the net since the last known email didn't work* Anyhoo, I crossposted a fair bit of pointing it out on a few communities I favour, to do my bit. Must try and remember all the good fic read over the last year to nominate... But one more thing - *huggles the new Isis team for making the awards happen again*
