Say you care
That you'll always be there
I have to hear it, before
But once it's there I'll let you in
Take what you want because I'm offering
This won't be forever; can't last
Don't want it to be the end and the everything
So just say you care
Lie to me as I lie to myself
Wishing your touch was hers
Wanting something simple
And failing once again

Say you care
I need to know
I need to see it in your eyes
How you truly despise this
It's just an arrangement, you whisper
But I don't want to think of it like that
Second best isn't my style
Trouble is it's not yours either
I can act like it's something more
And you can say the words
But neither can speak the truth
