I really enjoy looking at icon posts, cos I have to rely on them to get new icons, cos all I have to make my own is Paint, which is rubbish.

I use GIMP (http://www.gimp.org/) to make mine, which takes some getting used to but it's open-source, so free. :D

Yup, been using it for a few years though I admit I still don't know what half the things do lol! Love your icon btw. The colouring is particularly nice, plus it's rare to see Helen in any. :)

Thank you! I'm quite pleased with that one. I've got a couple of other Helen ones, and I plan to do one or two more - I'm working on a group of icons to post to <lj comm="primeval_denial" in a day or two. I love making icons, though I'm not that good at it yet.

Looking at the older ones on your userpics page, some seem to suffer a bit from odd ratios stretching/squishing people but the newer ones look very good.

I'll have to look out for your Helen icons. :)

Someone kindly pointed that out to me a little while ago, and I managed to sort it out, so now they definitely do look better (which is why I'm redoing a few of my favourite ones to see if I can improve them).
