That trust had seemed natural, gradual as they came to terms with each other, but she sees in retrospect that it was acceptance of the familiar, exactly what she wanted to deny.

Now she's placed her life in his hands.

The thrill as he kisses her is unlike anything she's ever experienced. It's as if she has found her north, a sensation of belonging, warmth that goes beyond simply the feeling of his lips teasing her own. A sweet farewell with promise. Fix this.
