I just read "Scimitar of Saladin" by Commodore Norrington and it's simply the best Rodney childhood story I've read for quite some time. Vague spoilers for Season 3 episode "McKay and Mrs. Miller" but a very interesting and moving look into the beginning of his education, not quite as you might expect.

You just made my day.

The author of that story is a close friend of mine, (I'm her normal beta-reader) and I know she was rather proud of that story. So, thanks!

Glad to have. I did leave a review for them on ff.net - I enjoy all their fics greatly - but with it being that good just doing only feedback didn't feel enough - I recced it on a couple of SG forums, too on their reccommend a fic threads, because I figured who wouldn't want to read such an engaging fic if they were a Rodney fan.

Wow, that's great to hear.

She's on livejournal as [livejournal.com profile] ljmckay, if you ever want to get in touch with her. Right now we're working on a story written as e-mails between Elizabeth and Jeannie, but it's on hold until we both have some more free time.

Very interesting, I look forward to reading whenever it is finished, as you both write so well. Hope you find the time, not having any to write can be so frustrating. I think maybe currently I have too much time to write...and the plot bunnies have realised it. :D
